The Light Is Changing

The Light is Changing:

  1. We are going to lose an  hour of sunlight in the next twenty days, and the light is now less concentrated. This changed light is a signal for plants to end their life cycle.
  2. I predict a muted fall leaf color change–there has been a lot of stress damage: the oaks from spongy moth infestation, the maples too, but they seem to have succumbed to a fungus of some sort as well.
  3. There is a stillness in the air, the crickets, katydids and cicadas are quieting down. We are ready for change.

It has been a full year since I started this Microseasons newsletter, first on Instagram and now here. You can go back and look through the year. It’s a perfect time to end this project. I’ve been writing down my daily seasonal observations for years now though, and I will continue to do so, as it has become a part of my life. Maybe it will morph into something else some day, as I have a tough time being quiet. In the meantime, keep walking and noticing the changes, friends!
